| ALLYCAD NEWS AND UPDATES |
 |
Welcome to another edition of the AllyCAD newsletter.
Following the successful Beta testing phase of AllyCAD 2010, and with its official release taking place next month, we are very excited to announce its imminent launch to you. This newsletter contains information about the new software, our new workshops available to clients at no charge, industry news, the IMESA Conference and as always a new tech tip.
AllyCAD 2010 October Launch
AllyCAD clients who are up to date with their Support and Upgrade subscriptions are automatically eligible to receive AllyCAD 2010 at no extra cost. If you are not up to date, now is the time to do so! The new package will be dispatched to clients as from 1st October.
AllyCAD 2010 has been rewritten to allow for both 2D and 3D draughting and is even faster and stronger than AllyCAD 3.6. If you want to take your product design to the next level and are thinking of switching to 3D, you will be happy to know that AllyCAD offers:
- Layouts and viewports
- 3D entities
- Multiple Views
- 3D rendering
- Blocks and XRefs
When it comes to compatibility, Knowledge Base is a founding member of the Open Design Alliance (ODA) along with Bentley, ESRI, Oracle, Siemens, ZWCAD, Infrasoft, IntelliCAD and many others. AllyCAD 2010 therefore fully supports the reading and writing of AutoCAD's DWG format, DXF, Caddie CEX, Arcview SHP and ASCII files. This gives you the flexibility to move between drawings without having to worry about incompatibilities and data exchange problems. In addition to this, AllyCAD handles JPG, TIFF and huge BMP files with ease and also supports TFW, LOG and HGR geo-referenced bitmaps.
Lastly we have made sure that AllyCAD 2010 carries with it all the intuitive interface and industry toolkit functionality that you are familiar with in AllyCAD 3.6. We will retain the AllyCAD "strong points" and have not significantly changed the menus and methods of the software. The operator will therefore work in the same manner, but in a more user friendly way. Learning curve will therefore be even shorter which is fundamental in today's world.
PLEASE NOTE: CIVIL DESIGNER clients will be updated to AllyCAD 2010 when we release CIVIL DESIGNER 2010 next year. This is due to the fact that AllyCAD 2010 will be able to open old AllyCAD files of previous versions but will save them in the new format that allows for 3D entities and is much more powerful. This new format is being made compatible with the new CIVIL DESIGNER 2010 version so that it operates seamlessly on our new 3D Platform and is fully compatible with AutoCAD and its 3D entities. Release date is expected to be around April next year.
If you have any questions about the new software or wish to request the best price for updating your current Support and Upgrade Subscription, please contact a key accounts manager. |
New User Workshops
Starting from 4th September 2009 we will be holding workshops at our three offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban between 2pm and 4pm on Fridays. There is no charge for this and is an added service to our existing clients. This gives you the opportunity to spend 2 hours alongside our experienced support staff. With help and advice, tips for improving speed, efficiency and overall understanding of the powerful functionality of our software, you will have the perfect opportunity to develop your skills further, making your time even more productive.
So come visit us, bring your projects to us and come and find out more about:
- Any software functionality queries,
- Our software's latest functionality and future functionality,
- Any other questions related to our software, services and support.
That's a total of 144 free user workshops a year across our offices on top of regular user group meetings and client visits. Now that's personalized service that you can't get anywhere else. We will be limiting the number of users that can attend each workshop to 8 clients to maximise the benefit to you. So please contact your nearest office to book your spot.
