THE 70th IMESA ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
The 70th Annual IMESA Conference and Exhibition took place from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13 October 2006 at
the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus. The conference was a huge success and saw the
greatest turnout ever with approximately 700 attendees per day.
SAICE MAGAZINE AWARD
 |
On the 12th October 2006 Knowledge Base was honoured with a South African Institution of Civil Engineering award for the most supportive advertiser in 2005. The award was based on the amount of civil engineering journalism featuring project success stories in AllyCAD and Civil Designer. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for making the ReKnown articles
|
possible and for allowing us to keep the broader civil engineering community informed on infrastructural developments across all regions.

GEOMETRY IN AllyCAD
 |
Geometry lines are a superset of construction lines. They allow you to define the layout, position lines
and arcs tangential to each other, and allow you to define the basic layout of the drawing elements. Thereafter, you simply fill in with solid lines to create the objects you need.
The great thing about geometry or construction entities is that it allows for the precise layout of complex shapes. You can therefore create an outline from composite construction entities with a couple of clicks and can also convert
|
|
existing entities to geometry entities. The geometry menu offers unrestricted versatility.
You can draw construction lines, arcs, circles, parallel lines and circles and even include a perpendicular bisector between two points or through a point parallel to an existing element. The program allows you to define the construction lines that can be used to draw complex shapes in conjunction with the Draw - Fill Geom Functions.
You can make geometry, switch geometry on and off and even delete geometry. Once you have deleted your geometry, the deletion is permanent. Should you need your geometry lines at a later stage, then you can temporarily switch them off by un-checking the "Show Geometry" box in Settings - View Settings. Because AllyCAD works the way you do with geometry lines, it helps the draughtsperson create the kind of designs that are unique and individual to the designer.
