THE BILL OF MATERIALS IN ALLYCAD
The Bill of Materials (BOM) in the Tools Menu extracts information from attributes
attached to objects on your drawing. It places this information into an ASCII file which can be comma
delimited; tab delimited or which can be arranged in fixed width columns.
Your drawing must therefore contain objects with attributes before you are able to use this function.
You can define your own attributes and create as many as you like. You will also need to create a BOM Template File. The BOM Template file defines what will be included in the BOM. To create the BOM Template File, you can use any text editor, such as Windows Notepad. The Template file must have a .BTM extension.

You can look at the Bill of Materials in any text editor,
or import it into any spreadsheet or database that accepts ASCII files.
Once it is in spreadsheet or database format, you can manipulate the information in the BOM.
To test the BOM, load the drawing BOMEAW.DRG.
This drawing is supplied in your \AllyCAD\drawing\ directory.
Then run Bill of Materials.
For more information on this powerful
feature, refer to Tech Tip Tutorial T10021 on our website - www.allycad.com.
