SYMBOLS in AllyCAD
Symbol libraries are handy little directories that allow you to store individual objects that may be used as symbols. You can add text to your symbol library. There are two underscores on either side of the word if text is used in an object with the parent name. This underscore will not appear in the visual library that appears if you click on the View button when you want to insert a symbol into a drawing using Symbol in the Draw Menu.
To load a symbol from a symbol library into the drawing you are working on, you must first load the appropriate symbol library so that AllyCAD will know where to find the symbol. To load the symbol library, you will need to load that library using the Load Symbol File function again.
Once you have loaded a symbol from a symbol library into another drawing, it will be as if you have created the symbol/object in that drawing. You can copy it, scale it, move it, mirror it, modify it, replace it using the Update Objects command, add to it, delete it, use List Objects to count it, etc.

Any AllyCAD drawing can be used as a symbol library. A symbol is created from a drawing, so the drawing will have to be complete before you can create the symbol. In AllyCAD, you can have as many symbol attributes as you desire. When a symbol is inserted into a drawing, the primitives making up the symbol are automatically grouped so that you can select the whole symbol by clicking on it once with the "Select Curser".

TECH TIP TUTORIAL
How to import drawings from AutoCAD in DWG or DXF format
When a drawing is originally created in AutoCAD you have no option of specifying a particular coordinate format as AutoCAD supports only Cartesian style coordinates. In AllyCAD however you can specify the use of Cartesian coordinates, or of Surveyor coordinates in either the Northern or Southern hemisphere.
