KNOWLEDGE BASE EXHIBITS AT LAUNCH OF THE WESTERN CAPE FOCUS SCHOOLS

The first focus schools in the Western Cape have been launched at an event on Monday 28 November 2005. Focus schools are secondary schools that offer a particular focussed range of subjects. These schools of excellence are at the forefront of curriculum development and best practice. The 26 schools from across the province will offer the following focus subjects:

• Arts & Culture
• Business Commerce & Management
• Engineering & Technology (which includes subjects like Electrical
  Technology, Civil Technology, Mechanical Technology, Engineering as
  well as Graphics & Design).

AllyCAD will be used extensively throughout these focus schools to assist Curriculum Developers in the field of Engineering, Graphics and Design.

NEW Bulletin Board Support Forum

AllyCAD and Civil Designer users can now benefit from a new bulletin board support forum. The forums will be monitored by our Knowledge Base Support Centre staff who will ensure that questions and queries are answered. In addition, users will benefit from the hints and tips contributed by other users who participate in the forum.

TURN MODULE IN ALLYCAD

Designers can now access the Turn module in AllyCAD as an additional feature to the program. Turn runs within the AllyCAD environment to offer you the dual functionality of vehicle simulation while at the same time aiding the design process for maximum results.

You can therefore draw on the wide range of functions within the Turn module when designing roundabouts, intersections, parking areas, load bays and warehouses. Even a project like a new residential development is easy when you combine the visual simulation of low speed turning manoeuvres with AllyCAD.

The program allows you to perform all the necessary tests along the specified tracking path and the results are displayed by means of output graphs that show how close the simulated vehicle is to the maximum angles on the path. Details on the report include the actual steering angle, actual tractor/trailer angles, the maximum steering angle and the maximum tractor/trailer steering angles. In addition to this, there is also an alignment summary that indicates 'Chainage from', 'Chainage to', 'Type' as well as 'Direction' and 'Radius'.

The program is equipped with vehicle libraries for TRH 17 design vehicles and various commercial aircrafts are distributed with the package. You can also simulate forward and reverse movement for any of the supported configurations and can create general minimum turning envelopes by simply indicating a start position and an initial direction of movement.

With over 13 vehicle types ranging from single unit vehicles to interlinks and nose or tail steer aircrafts, the possibilities on Turn are endless!
