TRAINING GRANT ASSISTS BEE COMPANIES
Many of our BEE clients are unaware that they can apply to the
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for a cash grant to help
with business development services aimed at improving core
competencies. AllyCAD and Civil Designer software and product
training is a business development service that allows our
clients to remain at the forefront of business and the cash
grant could go a long way in helping to alleviate the costs.
The Black Business Supplier Development Programme (BBSDP) is a
80:20 cost-sharing cash grant incentive scheme that offers
support to black-owned enterprises in South Africa. The scheme
provides such companies with access to business development
services in order to assist them in improving their core
competencies, upgrading managerial capabilities and
restructuring to become more competitive.
Companies that qualify for the grant are majority black-owned
(fifty one per cent or more) with a significant representation
of black managers on their management team. The maximum annual
turnover of companies that qualify for BBSDP grants will however
be limited to R12 million per annum and they should have a
minimum trading history of one year. Companies that apply for
the grant will also be required to comply with commercial
regulatory requirements applicable to their areas of business,
e.g. registration with CIPRO and SARS.
The maximum grant that a single company can qualify for, is
limited to R100 000. A company can apply for multiple projects
provided that the cumulative grant does not exceed R100 000. All
fees related to the rendering of business development services
including travel and subsistence costs will qualify for cost
sharing assistance. Costs for the acquisition of printed
materials and software that constitute an integral component of
the implementation of a project, will also qualify provided they
do not exceed fifty per cent of the total cost of the project.

NEW EMPLOYER SERVICE

ALLYCAD GOES HATCHING!
In
today’s newsletter, we revisit the ever popular topic of
hatching.
Hatching allows you to fill a specified area in a shape with
your chosen pattern. You can therefore add detail to specific
entities in a drawing for identification purposes.
An appropriate pattern may be chosen from the list of hatch
pattern names. Alternatively, if you are not sure what the hatch
pattern looks like, you can click on the PreView button. A
sample of each hatch pattern will appear on the screen. Once you
have selected your choice, click on the one you want to use.

To alter an
existing hatch, go to the Annotate Menu. You can alter the
hatch pattern of a hatch, the hatch scale, hatch pen and /or
the hatch perimeter. When you select “Alter Existing Hatch”
the perimeters of all the hatched areas will start to flash.
To change the hatched area, click on the perimeter of the
hatched area.
The ‘Hatch’ or ‘Solid Fill’ dialog box will appear so that
you can choose a new hatch pattern, scale, perimeter or colour.
Hatched and solid fills can significantly slow down redraws. It
is therefore a good idea to set Hatch to ‘Draw’ in the ‘View
Settings’ dialog, to ‘None’. This means that hatches will not be
drawn on redraws. If you want to see your hatches, you can
display them when you want to by using the ‘Draw All Hatch’
function in the Annotate Menu.
The Hatching function is easy to use and allows for a great deal
of flexibility. You can convert a hatch to the lines it
comprises, change hatch pattern colours and change the default
hatch pen colours.
