COMPANY NEWS |
We’ve incorporated a special visit
from our programmers in the last round of scheduled client
visits. We trust that you have enjoyed meeting the team and that
some of your technical questions have been answered.
The programmers conducted the
following demonstrations during regional visits:
-
AllyCAD functionality – presented
by James Fife in East London,
-
New ‘Strings’ functionality in
Civil Designer – presented by Alasdair Craig in Johannesburg,
-
Sewer functionality in Civil
Designer – presented by Johan Swart in Port Elizabeth,
-
Roads functionality in Civil
Designer – presented by Dawid du Toit in Durban.
In addition to this, the Namibian
region can look forward to meeting the Support Manager Brett
Pureveen later this month where he will address software related
queries and also assist in technical problem solving.

PRODUCT INFO |
THE DIGITIZER
Many users prefer to use a digitizer to assist them with
accurate coordinated input. The digitizer is used as a
supplement to the mouse. It does not replace normal menu
selection, hot-key accelerators and icons, but merely helps you
to digitize your existing drawings, maps and plans with complete
accuracy.
You can
set up your digitizer so that it works with AllyCAD by selecting
the Digitizer Settings in the Settings Menu. When you select
this option, the ‘Digitizer Settings’ will display the Digitizer
Setup dialog box.
You may
now select your digitizer type from the Digitizer Type list. If
your digitizer does not emulate any of the options listed in the
Digitizer Type list, then select the Generic ASCII digitizer
type option and consult your digitizer manual for the ASCII
string that the tablet sends to your computer.

Once you
have indicated your options in the Digitizer Setup box, you can
click on the Test button to ensure that your settings are
correct and then proceed to link the scale of the drawing or map
you are digitizing to the CAD drawing.
Enter
three distinct points on the digitizer, and then enter three
corresponding points on the screen to link the scale of the
digitized drawing or map to the CAD drawing. You can also map
CAD commands to the digitizer puck buttons as each button can
have a command that is associated to it. All the commands are
defined at the end of the CAD.MEN file.
Once you
have set the values in the Digitizer Setup dialog box, have
completed the test and have set the scale, you are ready to use
your digitizer. You can use the digitizer and the mouse
simultaneously and then enter commands from either.
For more
information, please refer to the Help file under 'Digitizer
Setting' for an in-depth discussion.
