Knowledge Base and SAIMechE
|
Following the appointment of Vaughan Rimbault as the new CEO of the South African Institution of
Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE) on 1 October 2007, a new strategic plan has been put in place to
increase mechanical engineering initiatives in South Africa. This plan has strong synergy with
Knowledge Base and a meeting was subsequently initiated on 27 November 2007 to discuss a partnership agreement

aimed at promoting mechanical engineering in the country. A follow up meeting will be held with CEO Vaughan Rimbault in the new year to formalize the arrangement.

TRAINING
|
Mechanical Toolkit Training
All AllyCAD training courses are accredited with the South African Institute of Civil Engineering (SAICE) to receive Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points. In addition to the current courses on offer, Knowledge Base will also provide a series of online training courses in 2008 which will be evaluated by the Institute and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) for CPD weighting.

The Mechanical Toolkit
AllyCAD's Mechanical Toolkit speeds up the drawing of common mechanical components (such as bolts, nuts and screws), and provides functions for annotating welds, tolerances and surface finishes.
AllyCAD 3.6 includes a Coordinate Table function providing an advanced
coordinate labelling tool which can be accessed via the mechanical toolkit menu.
