Technology Awards

The annual merit award ceremony recently took place at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). Awards were issued to students who performed exceptional work in the 2007 academic year and who produced top-class Civil Engineering designs. The Faculty of Civil Engineering & Surveying at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, held their annual prize giving ceremony on Wednesday

MECHANICAL INDUSTRY NEWS

The The South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE) Technology Olympiad which started some 13 years ago is a successful learner programme for Grade 11 and 12. This is to encourage learners at schools to take up Mathematics and Science for matric and to enroll at a University, University of Technology or Technikon for an Engineering degree or diploma. The second and third segments is the provision of vacation training in industry of students at tertiary institutions as well as the provision of mentoring of graduates at the workplace in order to develop skills. The fourth segment is the provision of courses, conferences, lectures and colloquiums to engineers in practice. For 2008 SAIMechE have planned some 80 courses country wide that will be coordinated by the Chief Executive Officer. For more information, visit
