Adding a Roof to the Elevations
This Tech Tip explains how to add the roof to the elevation views on an
architectural drawing.

Once the elevations views have been completed, select the add roof to elevation
option from the Architectural Toolkit.
Toolkit > Architectural > Roof > Add to elevation
The Roof Set up dialog appears.
Here you can adjust the Roof Pitch, Pen Colour and the Line Type. It is not
necessary to select the layers as AllyCAD will position each roof in its correct
layer.
Click OK
The program prompts you to indicate the face on the plan for which you want to
add the roof.
Click on the face of the plan for which you want the roof drawn
You are prompted to enter the Roof Line on the elevation. The Cursor is locked
at Toggle angles of 0 and 90 degrees. Drag the cursor to the position on the
correct elevation and enter.
The prompt now asks for the roof lines for this view.
Click on the roof line and the roof line is added to the elevation.
The prompt asks you to select the height of the side gable or to spacebar for a
facing gable. Press the spacebar.
The prompt asks
again for the roof lines for this view. Select the second roof line.
The roof lines are added to the elevation.
The prompt asks you to select the height of the side gable or to spacebar for a
facing gable. Select the roof line off which the height may be calculated.
The prompt asks to select the roof line for this view or spacebar to exit. Press
the spacebar and the roof is added to the elevation.
The prompt asks you to indicate the next face on the plan to add a roof to. You
may now proceed and add the remaining roofs.
You may need to edit some of the roofs to suit your plan. Select the roof by
highlighting it and then select
