Using the Coordinate Table Functionality in v.3.6

The coordinate table functionality has been enhanced in 3.6, this Tech Tip highlights the enhancements.

Annotate Menu › Coordinate Table

Draw frame

Tick this if you want a frame to be drawn around your coordinate table.

Show extra column

Tick this to include an additional column in the table

Decimal places  Specify the number of decimal places to use when drawing the coordinate

 values

 Add coord ID label

If this is check, then the label ID of each coordinate will be added to the

drawing as a text label, at the coordinate position.

 Add coord value

If this is check, then actual X-Y value of the coordinate will be added to the

drawing as a text label, at the coordinate position.

Label prefix  Specify a prefix for the label ID value.
 Increment

If you check this, the value of the label prefix will be automatically

incremented when you add a coordinate point.

 Add Coords

Press this button to add coordinates to the table. You will be taken back to

the drawing, and asked to specify the individual coordinates and their

 respective labels.

Right clicking on the any column name allows you to rename the column.

A dialog will appear allowing you to rename the column.

Set up the options you require, then click on the "Add Coords" button to begin adding coordinates to the table.

The dialog will be hidden while you are prompted to indicate coordinates in the drawing.

AllyCAD prompts:

Click on a coordinate to add (spacebar to finish)

Click on the drawing to indicate the coordinate you wish to add (Use the CAD "jump" functions/keys to accurately place the cursor on circle centres or intersections). If the coordinate is the centre of a circle, that circle's diameter will be associated with the coordinate (this is the diameter that will appear in the table next to this coordinate).

AllyCAD prompts:

Click on the text for this coordinate (spacebar to skip)

If the "Add coord ID label at coordinate" checkbox has not been checked, then AllyCAD assumes that coord ID labels already exist in the drawing. Click on the text label that refers to this coordinate. The coordinate, it's label, and the diameter related to this coordinate are added to the coordinate table.

However, if "Add coord ID label at coordinate" checkbox has been checked, then AllyCAD will add a coord ID label just above the coordinate you have indicated. The coord ID label will be created from the label prefix. If the "Increment" checkbox has been checked, then the label prefix value will be automatically incremented. The coordinate, it's label, and the diameter related to this coordinate are added to the coordinate table.

If "Add coord value at coordinate" checkbox has been checked, then AllyCAD will add a coordinate value label centred on the coordinate you have indicated. The coordinate value label will consist of the X and Y values of the coordinate, formatted to the number of decimal places you have specified in the dialog.

AllyCAD prompts:

Enter user comment for this coordinate

AllyCAD will repeat these prompts until you press the spacebar. You will then be returned to the Coordinate Table Dialog.

You will see the coordinates you have added, tabulated in the dialog. You may edit these values if necessary. You may also adjust the column widths to your satisfaction by dragging the column separators in the header row

Drawing the Coordinate Table:

Click on the Draw Table button to add the table to your drawing.

AllyCAD prompts:

Click to place the coordinate table)

Indicate with the mouse where the table must be drawn.

Once the coordinate table has been drawn, the Coordinate Table dialog will reappear. Click on the Close button.

You will be asked if you wish to save the coordinate table to a file. If you wish to save the coordinate table, you will be prompted to specify a path and filename for the file.
