Drawing Sewer Manholes and Pipes in the Civil Toolkit

This Tech Tip explains how to draw manholes with connecting pipes with labels for the manholes.

Positioning Manholes

To place manholes on your cadastral plan you can either select:

Toolkit > Civil > Sewer Capture

or use the Draw manholes and sewer pipes icon in the Civil Toolkit.




AllyCAD prompts:

  Use previous settings (else enter new settings)?

Select No to set the defaults or Yes to use the existing settings. Refer to the Set Defaults section for more details.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Indicate manhole position on correct side of boundary (else spacebar to exit)

Click on the correct side of the boundary line where you would like the manhole to be placed. AllyCAD will jump to the nearest line. Otherwise press the spacebar to exit his function.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Enter manhole offset

Enter the offset from the boundary line.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Enter name for this manhole

Enter a name for the manhole or accept the AllyCAD default name MH<num>. Where <num> is the manhole number.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Indicate position for manhole label (spacebar for no label)

Click on the correct side of the boundary line where you would like the manhole to be placed. AllyCAD will jump to the nearest line. Otherwise press the spacebar to exit his function.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Indicate manhole position on correct side of boundary (else spacebar to exit)

If you would like a label and arrow pointing to the manhole, indicate the cursor position with you would like the manhole label to be placed. Otherwise press the [Spacebar] if you don't want annotation. If you selected that you would like to add an arrow in then an arrow will be added from the text bubble to the manhole.

Setting The Defaults

AllyCAD prompts:

  Enter layer name

Enter a layer name. The layer entered will become the current layer and a new layer will be created if this layer doesn't yet exist. If no layer is entered a default layer name MANHOLE will be created.
 

  Enter manhole diameter

Enter the diameter of the manhole in current units.

  Enter manhole pen

Enter manhole pen color.

  Enter pipe line type

Enter line type for pipe.

  Enter pipe pen

Enter pen for pipe.

  Enter manhole parent name

Enter parent name of manhole.

  Enter pipe parent name

Enter parent name for pipe.

  Enter manhole label text height (in mm)

Enter text height for the manhole label.

  Enter manhole label text pen

Enter pen colour for manhole label.

  Enter manhole label text height (in mm)

Enter text height for the manhole label.

  Add manhole label text bubble?

Select Yes to add a text bubble (circle) to the manhole label. Select No to just add the manhole label.

AllyCAD prompts:

  Add an arrow ?

Select Yes to add an arrow to the text bubble. Select No for no arrow.
