AllyCAD Shortcut Keys

This Tech Tip lists the various shortcut keys used in AllyCAD

Default Keys
Each Accelerator is a key on the keyboard that provides a short cut to a function in the Pull-Down Menus. The default functions assigned to keys on the keyboard are listed below.

The function assigned to each key is determined in the CAD.MEN file. This file is stored in the following folder: c:\allycad34\users\\

Zoom View

Zoom to a pre-defined view. See Zoom View in the View Menu.

Jump to Grab All

Jump to a point within the Grab All cursor box. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[CTRL] A

Select All

Select everything on the drawing.

[SHIFT] A

Grab All Mode

Enter the Grab All Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

B

Exec

Executes a macro

C

Mid point of line Jump

Jump to the mid point of the nearest line. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[CTRL] C

Copy

Copy selected entities. See Copy in the Edit Menu.

[SHIFT] C

Mid point between points Jump

Jump to the mid point between two points. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

D

Demagnify

Demagnify the screen at the cursor position. See Demagnify in the View Menu.

[CTRL] D

Resize DOS drawing

Correctly sizes screen after loading an AllyCAD DOS format drawing.

[SHIFT] E

Circle Center Mode

Enter the Circle Center Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

[SHIFT] F

Freehand Mode

Enter the Freehand Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

G

Jump Grid

Jump to the nearest grid point. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[SHIFT] G

Grid Mode

Enter the Grid Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

Home

Jump to the middle of the screen.

I

Jump Geometry

Jump to the nearest geometry intersection. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[SHIFT] I

Geometry Int. Mode

Enter the Geometry Intersection Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

J

Jump Point

Jump to the nearest point. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[SHIFT] J

Point Mode

Enter the Point Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Tools Menu.

K

Lock cursor

Lock cursor to an arbitrary angle (taken from existing line or keyboard, or lock the cursor to an arc).

[CTRL] K

Lock to Line

Select the angle of cursor movement to be the same as the angle of the nearest line. See Lock Cursor in the Tools Menu.

L

Show Layers

Select visible layers. See Set Visible Layers in the Settings Menu.

[CTRL] L

Line (Chained)

Draw a chained line. See Line (Chained) in the Draw Menu.

M

Magnify

Magnify the screen at the cursor position. See Magnify in the View Menu.

N

Jump Near

Jump to the nearest element . See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[SHIFT] N

Nearest Mode
 

Enter the Nearest Line/Arc Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

O

Ratio Jump

Jumps to a given ratio between two points

[CTRL] O

Open file

See File menu.

P

Polar Enter

Move a given angle and distance.

[SHIFT] P

Perpendicular Mode

Enter the Perpendicular Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu.

[CTRL] P

Print

Prints the current drawing

Q

Query distance

Queries the distance, slope and bearing. See Measure in the Tools Menu.

R

Redraw to full paper extents

Redraw the screen. Equivalent to Zoom paper.

S

Refresh

Refresh screen at current scale. See Refresh in the View menu.

[CTRL] S

Filesave

See Save in the File Menu.

T

Take Pen

Take default line settings from the nearest line, arc or polyline. See Line defaults in the Settings Menu.

[CTRL] T

Tangent Mode

Enter the Tangent Snap Mode. See Snap Modes in the Settings Menu

[SHIFT] T

Pick Text

Take default text settings from an existing piece of text. See Set Text Defaults in the Settings Menu.

U

Move to Coordinate

Jump to an exact coordinate location. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[CTRL] U

Unlock Cursor

Unlock cursor angle, or free cursor from lock to arc.

[CTRL] V

Paste

Paste from the Clipboard. See Paste in the Edit Menu.

W

Pan to cursor position

Redraw the screen at current scale, centered on the cursor point..

X

Jump Last Fixed

Jump to the last fixed point. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

[CTRL] X

Cut

Cut selected entities to the Clipboard. See Cut in the Edit Menu.

Y

Perpendicular

Change the chosen angle of cursor movement by 90%. See Lock cursor in the Tools Menu.

Z

Zoom menu

Pops up Zoom Menu.

[SHIFT] Z

Change cursor mode to intersection Jump.

Enters intersection Jump mode. See Snap modes in the Settings Menu.

[CTRL] Z

Undo

Undo up to 1000 actions. See Undo in the Edit Menu.

If you are not using a function, repeat the last function you used.

Jump to the nearest arc or circle centre. See Jumps in the Tools Menu.

Hold

Lock the cursor so you can only draw horizontally and vertically, or at two other previously specified orthogonal angles. See Lock Cursor in the Tools Menu.

Move up and left

Move up and left by exact distances. See Accurate Drawing.
