Different Scales

This tech tip explains how to use different drawing scales in a drawing

Setting the Magnification Factor
AllyCAD has a drawing scale that is set via the Settings Menu › Drawing Settings

All scales in the drawing are based on this scale.

To create different scales, a magnification factor is applied to the layer.

Settings Menu › Layer Settings

The magnification factor is entered into the Mag. column.

If you assign a magnification of 2 to a layer, anything drawn on that layer subsequently will be twice the size i.e. the scale in this example will be 1:500

If you assign a magnification of 0.5 to a layer, anything drawn on that layer subsequently will be half the size i.e. the scale will be 1:2000

AllyCAD shows the ruler at the bottom of the screen, when working in the drawing scale, the ruler is shown in blue.

When working in a layer with a magnification factor, the ruler is shown in green.

If the ruler is not shown:

Settings Menu › View Settings

Make sure the Ruler option is selected.
